We found the hill of Slane, in County Meath, very interesting as Americans. It was where St. Patrick built a fire in opposition to the pagans on the Hill of Tara. There is a ruin of a church, where on the inside corner there is a narrow spiral staircase, that we climbed, leading to a bell tower, where there was a great view. Later we found records of my wife's Callan ancestors at the Archdiosese of Armagh.

Apologies for the delay, I am intending to give this much more time from May 1st.
What have you on your Callan ancestors?

Did any of your wife's Callans settle in upstate New York? We have two that married our Currans from County Louth. Just curious, as you just never know!

Yes, I have a Mary Curran, daughter of Peter Curran and Mary Pentony Curran baptised August 1824 in the parish/district of Termonfeckin. She later married Patrick Moyles (also from County Louth) and arrived in New York City July 1846. By 1850 they were raising their family in upstate New Y ork.
